Creating immersive soundscapes and memorable music
Yan Deng (b. 2001) is a composer, a musician, and a music engineer. Born in China, Yan grew interests into music at the age of three as she heard the sound of a violin passing by a music school.
Yan completed her undergraduate degree (BA) at the University of Rochester, where she studied composition with Patrick Holcomb, Johnny MacMillan, Keane Southard, and Yi-Ning Lo; piano with Patricia Hanson Elizabeth Crecca, Lorenzo Medel, and Matthew Figel at the Eastman School of Music. Yan is currently pursuing her graduate degree--MM in Scoring for Film and Visual Media-- at the Jacobs School of Music, studying with Larry Groupé and Steven Thomas Wayne.
Right now, Yan is pursuing her career as a multi-talented sound artist. Though classically trained, she loves writing music for films, games, TVs, and so on. In the meanwhile, she seeks every possibility to get to know the audio, film, and game worlds better.
